Hollywood Trip FAQ's

Thank you for your interest in the 2011 Stanford in Hollywood Spring Break Trip!

For those of you who missed the information session, don't worry about it. Here's what you need to know:

The trip will take place from March 21-26 (the Monday-Friday of Spring Break).
The trip consists of meetings with a broad range of entertainment industry professionals such as writers, directors, producers and maybe actors.
There are normally 3-5 meetings a day, occasionally we'll go for lunch at particular companies. Normally the person we're meeting with talks a little about themselves, and then the group asks questions.
The final itinerary won't be set in stone until a week or two before the trip (due to scheduling with the various groups), but the shortlist this year looks great so far!
Stanford Students in Entertainment will cover the cost of the hostel (probably the Orbit at Melrose and Fairfax) and the bus from meeting to meeting. Your only expenses would be getting yourself to and from LA, and possibly some meals.
Preference will be given to juniors and seniors, as freshmen and sophomores will have the opportunity to go on future trips, but all ages are welcome to apply.
There are 12 places on the trip up for grabs.
It's a great opportunity to find out more about the industry from a variety of angles, as well as to meet senior professionals who you would not normally have access to. There is no guarantee of internships or jobs as a result of attending the trip, but contacts made on the trip are often useful for the future.
Applicants should demonstrate strong interest in the entertainment industry, experience is not a prerequisite. There is no golden ticket to getting invited on the trip, but applicants should express how they would benefit from the trip, what they are hoping to get out of it, and how or why other Hollywood trippers would benefit from them.
The applications are read by the SSIE board, but ultimately the decision on who to take is made by the Stanford in Entertainment alumni in LA.
In order to apply, send a resume (with your class year) and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the trip and what aspect of the industry interests you most to stanfordhollywoodtrip2011@gmail.com

The applications are due at 10PM on January 30th.

Please let us know if you have any more questions about it!

Looking forward to reading your applications,
SSIE
