Students interested in issues of diversity in theatre and performance are especially encouraged to apply.

Position Descriptions

Marketing/Shakespeare in the Park Intern

This full-time internship position provides support for marketing, audience development, and customer service efforts for Shakespeare in the Park. In addition, this intern will provide support to the marketing department in its many needs: distribution of marketing materials, mailings, marketing research, and general clerical/organizational support. Duties specific to Shakespeare in the Park include but are not limited to:

· Conducting surveys of Shakespeare in the Park audience members and line participants to gather demographic and other information

· Distributing Shakespeare in the Park information

· Participate in the creation of videos and other new media projects to promote Shakespeare in the Park

· Managing the ticket distribution system for Borough Distribution Days

· Provide support at accessibility performances (Open Caption, Sign Interpreted, Audio Described) and other special events

· Coordinate the printing and delivery of program inserts

· Update social and electronic media with updates on the Park shows

· Provide customer service support as needed

· Preparing final reports on the Shakespeare in the Park Season

Candidates should have strong communication and written skills. Looking for a detail oriented, self-starter who is comfortable interacting with the public and has an outgoing personality. The ideal candidate is interested in theatrical or arts administration. Requires some evening and weekend hours – workweek will be adjusted to reflect evening and weekend work.


The Shakespeare Lab Internship

The Shakespeare Lab at The Public Theater is a nationally-renowned professional development program for actors. Over the course of six weeks in summer, the Lab provides a company of working professional actors with new and deepened skills in Shakespearean acting.

The Shakespeare Lab internship is integral to the planning and execution of The Shakespeare Lab and its accompanying programs. Duties include general office support, assistance to the Shakespeare Lab director and administrator, scheduling and coordination, faculty liaison, support for marketing and student recruitment efforts, and myriad other tasks that arise in the course of a complex and busy summer program.

Successful candidates will be responsible, conscientious, hard working and organized with an enthusiasm for and/or background in theater in general (performance, production, or theater-in-education) and Shakespeare in particular. Good computer skills and strong communication skills are essential; comfort with multi-tasking and an ability to work independently are musts.

Internship Spotlight- Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

Rules & Eligibility

  • Applicants MUST be pursuing degrees at colleges and universities within the United States ONLY.

  • Non-US citizens must provide an INS work authorization permit or CPT letter within 10 days after notification of winner status in order to qualify as a Television Academy Foundation intern. NO EXCEPTIONS! For details, check with your college or university.

  • Students who have completed college or graduate school prior to December 31, 2009 ARE NOT eligible.

  • Seniors who are graduating between January 1, 2010 and June 30, 2010 ARE eligible to apply in certain categories ONLY (See category list). Please note: If you are a graduating undergraduate senior returning to graduate school in the Fall, you MUST provide a letter of acceptance upon notification of finalist status.

  • All winners will be subject to a background check prior to final placement.

  • *ALL POSITIONS ARE FULL-TIME FOR 8 WEEKS.

  • Most, but not all, internships start in late June or mid July. Once you are notified as a winner, you and your host will determine your exact start date. The Music and Live Event Production categories usually start in late July to early August.

  • The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation pays a stipend of approximately $4,000 to each intern accepted into the program, which will be allocated every two weeks. Applicable payroll deductions are made from payments. Interns will be responsible for their own housing, transportation, and living expenses.

  • All Television Academy Foundation internships are located in the Los Angeles area with the possible exception of Documentary and Episodic Series. Interns MUST have a car for transportation. In most cases, it is not possible to rent a car without incurring a surcharge if you are under the age of 25. In all cases, a major credit card is required for rental.

Our Corporate Internship Program in Merchandising provides a select group of college students in their junior year an opportunity to experience being a merchant at Abercrombie & Fitch for 10 weeks over the summer. Interns work for one of our five brands and will be placed on a specific product category for the summer. Department Description: NBA Digital oversees all operations for NBA.com, NBA TV and NBA League Pass. NBA Digital is part of the Turner Sports and Entertainment Digital Network, the premier company for online sports and entertainment applications. This position would be with NBA.com editorial, which oversees the day-to-day production of NBA.com, including all editorial, multimedia and interactive content on the NBA’s official league Web site.


Qualifications: Strong NBA knowledge with background in sports journalism. Web savvy. Experience with Web 2.0 technologies (blogs/Facebook/Twitter etc.). Passion for sports, basketball and online media. Good editing skills and knowledge of AP style. Energetic and enthusiastic self-starter who enjoys working under pressure. Experience writing for media organization or student web/print publication. Basic Photoshop and HTML skills a plus. Please include writing samples.


Duties: The editorial intern would assist in the daily production of NBA.com, including editing stories, creating compelling web packages, blog writing and NBA.com section producing. Hollywood Spring Break Trip Info

2010 Stanford Hollywood Trip

March 23-27, 2010

Stanford Students in Entertainment offers twelve Stanford undergrads the opportunity to spend five days of spring break learning about careers in the entertainment industry.

The 2009 trip included meetings with Sam Dickerman (Senior VP at Sony Pictures), Bill Fay (President of Legendary Pictures), Joel Stein (entertainment writer for The Los Angeles Times and TIME Magazine), David Gale( Executive VP for New Media at MTV), and others.

DATES:

•The trek begins in Los Angeles the morning of Tuesday, March 23 and ends the morning of Saturday, March 27.

•You will have to organize and pay for your own transportation to and from LA.

•Plan on arriving and checking in the night of Monday, March 24.

•Transportation between meetings and the hotel will be provided, and lodging will be arranged (we will stay at the Orbit Hotel).

-Even if you live in LA you must stay with the group at the Orbit

COST:

•Total cost for the trip (excluding food or other expenses) is $100-150.

(We are trying to get the cost totally covered, but for now please plan that the trip will be at most the price above.)
