Hollywood Spring Break Trip Info

2010 Stanford Hollywood Trip

March 23-27, 2010

Stanford Students in Entertainment offers twelve Stanford undergrads the opportunity to spend five days of spring break learning about careers in the entertainment industry.

The 2009 trip included meetings with Sam Dickerman (Senior VP at Sony Pictures), Bill Fay (President of Legendary Pictures), Joel Stein (entertainment writer for The Los Angeles Times and TIME Magazine), David Gale( Executive VP for New Media at MTV), and others.

DATES:

•The trek begins in Los Angeles the morning of Tuesday, March 23 and ends the morning of Saturday, March 27.

•You will have to organize and pay for your own transportation to and from LA.

•Plan on arriving and checking in the night of Monday, March 24.

•Transportation between meetings and the hotel will be provided, and lodging will be arranged (we will stay at the Orbit Hotel).

-Even if you live in LA you must stay with the group at the Orbit

COST:

•Total cost for the trip (excluding food or other expenses) is $100-150.

(We are trying to get the cost totally covered, but for now please plan that the trip will be at most the price above.)

•You also have to register as a member of the Stanford in Entertainment Alumni Network and pay a $35 fee that goes toward the alumni network’s administrative costs for this trip.

HOW TO APPLY:

•By Monday, February 1st, please send the following to stanfordhollywoodtrip2010@gmail.com:

1) A cover letter explaining why you are interested in the trip and what aspect of the industry interests you the most.

2) Your resumé.

NOTIFICATIONS:

•Applications are read by a committee of student and alumni members of Stanford in Entertainment.

•Decisions will be made on a rolling basis until all 12 spots are filled, or until the first week in Feb.

(That means apply early!)

IMPORTANT INFO:

•Due to liability and financial issues, this trip is restricted to students of Stanford University and preference will be given to applicants in their Junior/Senior year.

HOWEVER, if you are not in this category, it may still be possible for you to attend, so please apply if you’re interested.
